Vox Humana SF is proud to announce an exhilarating lineup for its highly anticipated second season, featuring a diverse array of musical masterpieces that span genres and eras: VESPERS – VOYAGES.
Our upcoming season promises to be a rich and diverse musical journey, showcasing iconic works by some of the most revered composers in history. Audiences will be treated to the intricate harmonies and elegant structures of Dmitry Bortniansky, the lush and emotive melodies of Johannes Brahms, the grand and resonant sounds of Giovanni Gabrieli, the profound and spiritual compositions of Sergei Rachmaninoff, and the sweeping landscapes of Gustav Mahler. These masterpieces, each a cornerstone of the classical repertoire, will provide an unforgettable experience that highlights the timeless beauty and power of music.
In addition to celebrating these historical giants, our season will also spotlight the dynamic and innovative works of contemporary composers. We are thrilled to present pieces by Jake Heggie, whose operatic and choral works have garnered international acclaim for their emotional depth and accessibility. Jacob Mühlrad‘s compositions, known for their blend of modern techniques and traditional forms, offer a fresh and captivating listening experience. Joan Tower, one of America’s most important living composers, brings her unique voice and vibrant energy to our program. Finally, Eric Whitacre’s ethereal choral works, beloved for their lush harmonies and evocative texts, will enchant and inspire. Plus, we will present world premieres of works by our New Works Series composers Robin Estrada and José Daniel Vargas.
By juxtaposing the revered classics with groundbreaking modern works, our season aims to create a dialogue between the past and the present, offering a rich tapestry of sound that reflects the enduring and evolving nature of the musical art form. Vox Humana SF is fortunate to perform in some of the most iconic and historic venues in the Bay Area. Our season will feature performances in San Francisco’s majestic Grace Cathedral, known for its breathtaking architecture and rich acoustics that enhance the musical experience. We are also delighted to bring our music to St. Stephen’s in Belvedere, a charming venue with an intimate atmosphere, and St. Mark’s in San Francisco, a space that resonates with historical significance and community spirit. Additionally, we are thrilled to be a part of the esteemed concert series at The 222 in Healdsburg in 2025, where we will have the opportunity to reach new audiences in this vibrant cultural setting.
